In order to apply the recognizable conventions or trailers, in groups we came up with the ideas how to market and promote a film called Bloodshed high.
Me and my partner Kally came up with an idea based around the title bloodshed high. The synopsis was about a girl who is getting bullied but one day her bullies want to scare her but accidently kills her and make it look like suicide, now she wants revenge. We think this is a good idea because some teenagers can relate to our story. our USP was also that teenagers can relate to it but it was also bullying awareness, our USP was also that it reflects the hopes and fears of contemporary london and it generates fear and aspiration. In our film we decided to have one mainstream actress (Shona McGarty) and other upcoming actors in the UK.
What i learnt from this was how to use the key codes and conventions of a film trailer to create our own horror trailer. I learnt that trailers are not short movies, they only show short cut clips from the movie in order to promote the movie enough for people to go and watch it. We learnt how to keep our audience engaged by this I mean what would the audience like to see, what will get there attention E.G. our last shot was the "supernatural being" we knew that this would make our audience scared and jumpy that is how we keep them engaged.
We applied all out knowledge and put it into out film trailer, like when we will tell them the name of the film and the release date, which actors and actress are starring in it. The enigma code as to what and how the "super natural being" is killing people, we give them tasters but not all. That is how we keep the engaged.
This task and presentation helped us in many ways because it allowed us to show and apply the codes and conventions of a film trailer.
